As some may know, Jamie is at Palms West this week receiving her next set of chemo treatments.  While her last few treatments were given to her periodically and in an outpatient setting, this set requires a continuous flow of several chemotherapy agents over the course of 3 to 4 days.

This past weekend seemed to be especially difficult for her.  For one, she had lost her appetite and wasn’t eating very much.  Then there was the consistent back pressure/pain she’s been experiencing for the past few weeks.   And on top of all that, she was really anxious about her treatments this week, which made for a very long Monday morning since  the hospital didn’t call her in until Monday afternoon.

I was happy to see her in better spirits when I visited her on Monday and Tuesday evening.  Her entire demeanor was like night and day compared to what I observed over the weekend.  They had given her some nausea medication which seemed to help her with her appetite, and some sleeping pills to help her sleep.   She seemed very rested during my visit yesterday evening.

Today it seems the constant chemo is starting to take its toll.  I spoke to her mom this morning and she said Jamie was feeling very tired.   Mind you, this is an expected side effect of the treatment, but it’s still difficult to see her when she’s down.

As for the constant backache/pressure, they sampled her spinal fluid last week, which is not a pleasant activity whatsoever, and the GOOD NEWS is it came back clean.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t explain the source of her back pain.  At this point, the doctor is leaning on the theory that it’s a side-effect from her earlier chemo treatments since she didn’t have it prior.

Assuming all goes well this week, she should be home on Friday.  We continue to pray for strength and healing, and look forward to having her home soon.
