As I write this the family is gathered around (sans Joshua) watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.  If you haven’t seen it, you should.  Jake and I saw it in the theaters when it was released and found it to be quite entertaining.

But I digress.   I’m just so happy that our family is together again, even if only for a short 2 days.   The apartment Moffitt setup Jamie in is SUPER NICE!  We’ve both lived in – and seen – quite a few apartments and this has got to be the nicest…. very spacious and clean.  It’s one block North of Busch Gardens and you can actually see the Kumba roller-coaster from the parking lot.  There’s a nice lake on the property and we took a stroll around it this morning.  It’s not cold here, but it is VERY windy and wet, so we weren’t able to stay out for too long.

Jamie seems to be doing very well this weekend.  Our visit seems to have had a positive effect on her appetite and she’s been eating the most she’s eaten in a long time.   She’s lost some weight and all her hair, but she looks very cute in the caps her co-workers sent her and I just love her to death.

On a somewhat bummer note, I actually woke up on Friday morning with a bit of a cold.  Nothing serious, but needless to say, I’m keeping my distance from Jamie just in case.  As you can imagine, we’re both pretty bummed about that, but still happy and thankful for getting to spend this time together.  Leaving tomorrow for home WILL NOT BE FUN, however we’ve already earmarked another weekend on the calendar for our next visit.

This coming week is going to be a busy one for Jamie:  CT Scan, Endoscopy, and Bone Marrow Biopsy.  I’ll provide some updates as the appointments draw closer, but please keep her in prayer for strength and good results.

For tonight’s prayer assignment, I’d like to ask you to pray for some friends of ours:  Manny & Ellie.  I met Ellie online through a web forum specific for young cancer spouses.   They are about the same age as us and have a son just a tad younger than Jake.  Her husband, Manny, was diagnosed a few months ago with the Lymphoma version of what Jamie had and has undergone the same aggressive chemotherapy treatments and various transfusions.    On Sunday they will be making the long drive to their regional cancer center for a Monday appointment to find out whether he should also undergo a marrow transplant.

Please PRAY for their safe travel; for strength and courage; and for the doctors to be given the knowledge and wisdom needed to recommend the appropriate treatment, whether it be a marrow transplant or not.

On behalf of our friends, we thank you.

Oh, my favorite part in the movie is coming up… Gotta go!
